Graphical User Interface Development

note: This course is given in Dutch only.  Some course material is in English however. (And a lot is just graphical.)

The final lecture at TU/e is on October 17, 2-3-4 in AUD 10.

The course 2R350 uses parts of the following book:
Interaction Design (beyond human-computer interaction)
Authors: Preece, Rogers, Sharp
You are not required to purchase this book. Some students will be happy with just the lectures and the on-line course material.

Parts of this book and some additional material will be used during the first 3 lectures. Lecture 4 will introduce user-interface development using the Java programming language and the AWT and Swing toolkits.

     We also have example html files with applets.
• Announcements such as deadlines for assignments. The assignments require working in groups of 3 people.
  • TU/e deadline for first assignment: October 27, 2006, 5pm.
  • UA deadline for first assignment: December 22, 2006, 2.30pm.
  • TU/e deadline for second assignment: December 8, 2006, 5pm.
    The assignment must use this House class. This class is part of a package called House. (The course viewgraphs mention an alternative that does not apply this year.)
    If you have problems with the House class, you can look at its source code to figure it out.
  • UA deadline for second assignment: March 2, 2007, 1.00pm.
    

Students who hand in their assignment after the deadline or in the wrong format (only electronically, only cd but no paper document, no name on the paper or the cd, or any other error, will be given the opportunity to rectify this situation and get an evaluation appointment at a later date. The second deadline is August 1, 2007, 5pm. Appointments for evaluation will then be made and the evaluations will take place before August 31, 2007.
